A MUST-READ FOR ALL DOG PARENTS…
My name is Justin Palmer and I’d like to introduce you to the reason you are reading this right now. Here she is:
Above is my Husky Splash, who believe it or not had just turned 17 when the videos above were made!
At best, huskies normally live 12-15 years. Splash just recently passed away after living and thriving to a few months short of her 18th birthday.
Every time I would bring Splash to her vet he would tell me the same thing. I can’t believe how young she looks! In fact on the day she crossed the rainbow bridge, he told me Splash was the oldest Husky he had ever had as a patient in his 25 years of practice.
Today, I’d like to share with you 7 of the reasons why I believe Splash lived and thrived to such an old age. The story starts back when Splash was 13.
When Splash was 13, I started researching canine longevity. She was still very active, but I was starting to see her slow down in some ways. I wanted to do everything possible to give her as long and as happy a life as possible.
My research led me to seven different all-natural anti-aging ingredients. The problem is that many of them were not available as a canine supplement. And for the few that were, you had to buy multiple products to get the benefit. I knew I needed to create a product with these 7 ingredients and we got to work quickly.
Let me walk you through each ingredient and the research that convinced me to start giving it to my senior dog:
1. Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha offers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help reduce arthritis and joint pain, common in older dogs. Ashwagandha is also known for its stress-reducing effects, which can be beneficial for aging dogs experiencing anxiety or cognitive decline.
A study published in the Journal of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences noted that dogs receiving ashwagandha showed improved mobility and reduced stress levels.
2. Turkey Tail, Lion's Mane, & Reishi Mushrooms
These mushrooms are renowned for their immune-boosting and anti-cancer properties. Lion's Mane is known for supporting cognitive function, which can be beneficial for senior dogs facing age-related cognitive decline. Reishi mushrooms have anti-inflammatory properties, helping to alleviate joint pain. Turkey Tail is particularly noted for its role in cancer therapy, with studies indicating its ability to enhance the immune system's response to cancer.
A study published in the Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology highlighted the positive effects of these mushrooms on the immune system of older dogs.
3. Resveratrol (from Japanese Knotwood)
Resveratrol is known for its anti-aging properties. It has been studied for its ability to improve heart health and increase longevity, both of which are significant for senior dogs. Resveratrol also possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which can help in reducing the discomfort associated with arthritis and other age-related conditions.
A study in the American Journal of Veterinary Research suggested that resveratrol supplementation in senior dogs led to improved heart function and overall vitality.
4. Turmeric / Curcumin
Turmeric, and particularly its active compound curcumin, has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It's often recommended for dogs with arthritis to help reduce pain and improve mobility. Turmeric can also support liver and heart health, which is crucial for aging dogs.
A study published in the Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics showed that dogs with osteoarthritis showed significant improvement in mobility and reduced pain after receiving turmeric supplements.
5. Fish Oil
Fish oil, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, is highly beneficial for senior dogs, particularly for its anti-inflammatory properties. It can help alleviate the symptoms of arthritis and improve joint health, a common concern in older dogs. Omega-3 fatty acids are also known to support cognitive function, which can be beneficial for aging dogs facing cognitive decline. Additionally, fish oil can improve coat health and reduce skin allergies.
A study in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine found that fish oil supplementation in older dogs led to improved mobility and a significant decrease in inflammation associated with arthritis.
6. Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo Biloba is often used for its potential cognitive benefits. In senior dogs, it may help in managing age-related memory loss and cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS), a condition similar to dementia in humans. Ginkgo Biloba's antioxidant properties can also aid in protecting the nervous system and improving circulation.
A study published in the Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association indicated that dogs with CDS showed improvement in memory and learning tasks after being supplemented with Ginkgo Biloba.
7. Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle is primarily known for its liver-protective properties, making it particularly beneficial for senior dogs with liver issues or those on medications that may affect liver health. Its active component, silymarin, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help in detoxifying and repairing the liver. Milk Thistle can also support kidney health and may have some protective effects against certain types of cancer.
A study in the Veterinary Journal highlighted the efficacy of milk thistle in improving liver function in dogs with liver disease.
After Months of Research & Testing, I Began Giving Splash an Early Prototype of the Senior Super Seven 3 Years Ago.
I sincerely believe that these 7 ingredients helped to not only prolong her life, but also allow her to maintain so much youthfulness into her 18th year of life. Up until just a few months before she passed, she would even outlast our puppy on walks!
